Frequent Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Post-Op manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and how does it help?

Post-Op MLD is a gentle, specialized technique that supports your healing after surgery. It helps:

  • Reduce swelling and bruising

  • Improve circulation

  • Decrease pain and tightness

  • Support scar tissue healing

  • Promote faster, smoother recovery

Are you certified and trained

Yes. I am a Registered Nurse with 12 years of experience. I have completed two advanced courses through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and hold certifications in:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

  • Advanced Post-Surgical MLD
That’s a total of 68 contact hours of lymphatic training in addition to my nursing expertise.

Do you require a pre-op consultation?

Yes. This allows me to review your medical history, discuss your upcoming surgery, and develop a customized recovery plan so your first session is focused entirely on treatment.

What needs to be done before we start?

I require a medical clearance form signed by your physician. I provide this form for you, and it can be uploaded directly to your patient portal/medical record.

Do you provide compression garments, fajas, foam boards, or padding?

Not at this time. However, I can help you order the right items during your pre-op appointment. Are you certified and trained?

Do you drain seromas?

No. Draining seromas is a medical procedure that should be performed in-office by your doctor or surgeon. It must be done using sterile technique - this is considered best practice for your safety and recovery.

Do you remove drains?

Yes, but only with a physician’s order.

Do you help with scars and fibrosis?

Yes. I provide scar and fibrosis work using cupping therapy and MLD techniques to soften tissue, improve circulation, and support smoother healing.

When should I start post-operative MLD?

Most surgeons recommend starting within the first week after surgery (once you are cleared by your physician). Early sessions maximize recovery benefits.

Does MLD hurt?

No. MLD is a gentle, light-touch technique designed to be soothing, not painful.

How many sessions will I need?

Every recovery is different. We will determine your personalized plan at your pre-op consultation based on your goals and surgical procedure.

Do you combine other therapies with MLD?

Yes! I also offer Red Light Therapy using the Celluma Elite & Celluma Nova FDA-cleared devices to further reduce inflammation, improve circulation, rejuvenate skin, and speed healing.

What if I have trouble getting to my appointment?

That’s ok! I offer concierge services—I can come to your home or recovery space so you get the same safe, effective care in comfort.

Will Insurance Cover This?

At this time, post-op MLD is not covered by insurance. I accept self-pay and offer package pricing for affordability.
